Top 3 Popular Fever Drugs (2021) | Dose4u |
Fever – also known as high body temperature is not by itself an illness. It’s usually a symptom of an underlying condition, most often an infection.
There are various reasons why the human body temperature soars up. Normally during exercise, after having a meal or due to increased environmental temperature. But due to viral or bacterial infection, the human body fights back by an increase in body temperature this is known as Hyperthermia or Pyrexia. Fever is also accompanied by chills when the body temperature difference external environment and internal body temperature.
Fever is generally not considered dangerous, but hyperthermia can cause dangerous rises in body temperature. This can be due to an extreme temperature associated with heat injuries such as heat stroke, side effects of certain medications or illicit drugs, and stroke. With hyperthermia, the body is no longer able to control body temperature.
Depending on your age, physical condition, and the underlying cause of your fever, you may or may not require medical treatment for the fever alone. Many experts believe that fever is a natural bodily defense against infection. There are also many non-infectious causes of fever.
There are two categories of over-the-counter pain relievers/fever reducers: acetaminophen and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Acetaminophen is used to relieve headaches, muscle aches, and fever. It is also found in many other medicines, such as cough syrup and cold and sinus medicines. OTC NSAIDs are used to help relieve pain and reduce fever. NSAIDs include aspirin, naproxen, ketoprofen and ibuprofen, and are also found in many medicines taken for colds, sinus pressure and allergies.
These products, when used occasionally and taken as directed, are safe and effective. Read the labels of all your over-the-counter medicines so you are aware of the correct recommended dosage. If a measuring tool is provided with your medicine, use it as directed.
